 | Daylight Saving Time in Brazil |
In 2008 Brazil standardised Daylight Saving Time (DST) and implemented a DST
schedule that is implemented annually from October 2008. Most Southern States
in Brazil observe DST, these include: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Goias, Matto Grosso, Matto Grosso do Sul, Distrito Federal. Equatorial
Brazil does not observe Daylight
Saving Time (DST).
Due to its geographic size there are four time zones in Brazil.
- Clocks go back by one hour at midnight on the third Sunday of February
- They go forward at midnight on the the third Sunday of October
When dealing with other countries, it can be helpful to know the different
varieties of DST (for those countries that use the system) and how they map on to each other. Most countries adjust their clocks at some time between
midnight and 03:00.
Note: Many countries and territories change days of transitions to DST from year to year
and some do not employ it every year.
